Taught by Alicia Mau and Mark Hipshire
Alicia and Mark have been dancing Lindy Hop for eleven and twelve years, respectively. Both have traveled to workshops within the US and abroad to deepen their dance skills. They enjoy being playful on the dance floor and frequently add new ideas to their social dance repertoire.
This class will start with a full body warmup focused on body awareness and injury prevention, then delve into the technical details of dance moves that rely on counter body movements. The class will work its way up to the scorpion, a dramatic looking lift.
Prerequisites include sufficient strength to support your own body weight (for follows) and to support a portion of another person’s weight (for leads). Dance skills required include a basic understanding of Lindy Hop including rock steps and triple steps. The second half of this class will focus on a close embrace connection (chest to chest), which is much closer than most Lindy Hop moves.
